Cheltenham has so much to offer, from its beautiful architecture and history, through its wonderful people, to the fantastic events such as the Cheltenham Festival, where you can take in loads of horse races and even place bets if you are so inclined. I hope that as a result of what you see on this site, you will want to visit the real thing if you haven't already done so. Otherwise, you can bet live at YouWin on any number of other sporting events. I believe Cheltenham and its surrounding area to be one of the most beautiful parts of the British Isles. Of course, I'm biased having lived in the town nearly all my life but after travelling the length and breadth of the country in the course of my work, my spirits were always lifted when my journey brought me back to the Cotswolds and the regency splendour of Cheltenham. Cheltenham is or was home to a diverse range of people such as composer Gustav Holst, Rolling Stone Brian Jones and Winter Olympian, Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards. Mark Lester who played the title role in Oliver! is a local. The motto of Cheltenham is Salubritas et Eruditio which means Health and Education and this well rounded approach is why Cheltenham is so highly regarded. There is far more to this town situated on the edge of the Cotswolds than the racing and going to the spa although having said that the Cheltenham Festival 2012 promises to be huge. Cheltenham is dedicated to the arts and hosts a number of different festivals. Additionally it has twin city status with cities such as Weihai in China and Sochi in Russia which will be hosting the 2014 Olympic Games. Cheltenham is one of those special places that you need to visit to grasp it's true value. Then you will wonder why you haven't heard more about it. That is because people want it to be their little secret. Andy Hope |
